LEGACY OF IRON - VOL. 3
THE 1,000 POUND TOTAL
The third volume in the widely acclaimed Legacy of Iron series
picks up in the summer of 1940 and covers the BIG STORY of 1940 and 1941 -
the epic battle between the Big Champ, Steve Stanko, and World Champion John
Davis to become the first man in history to break the 1,000 pound barrier by
totaling 1,000 pounds in the three Olympic lifts.
Steve Stanko was the defending Senior National Champion in the Heavyweight class
- the World record holder in the snatch, clean and jerk and total - but John Davis,
the World Champion in the 181-pound class, had moved into the Heavyweight ranks -
and was bigger and stronger than ever.
Lifting fans watched with anticipation, knowing that they were
going to witness the greatest lifting in history as the two titans
prepared for head-to-head competition.
But Steve Stanko was nursing a sore leg that somehow never seemed
to get any better.
At times, the pain was so great he could barely
walk.
And as Steve's leg grew worse and worse, lifting fans wondered if he would ever be able to lift again - or if his days on the platform were over.
What happened became one of the most memorable events in the history of weightlifting - and in the history of sport.
Read about it right here - in The 1,000 Pound Total!
Prepare to witness lifting history at its best!
Yours in Strength,
