ABOUT BROOKS KUBIK AND DINOSAUR TRAINING

Brooks Kubik is one of the most revolutionary and influential teachers in the history of Physical Culture.

In a world populated by ghostwriters, Brooks stands out as unique. He not only writes his own training material, he actually trains. And he trains hard. Super hard.

Brooks has been training for over 40 years. He's demonstrated time and again, by using his own body as a proving ground, that he knows what he's talking about and that his training programs work!

Consider the following:
  • State wrestling champion in High School (Greco Roman Style)

  • Multi-time state and regional powerlifting champion in drug tested competition (198 pound class)

  • Five-time national bench press champion in drug tested competition (sub-master's age group, 198 and 220 pound weight classes)

  • Set over one dozen American, National and World records in the bench press in drug-tested competition (sub-master's age group, 198 and 220 pound weight classes)
  • If you're interested, you can see some of Brooks' heaviest lifting on his Dinosaur Training DVD's.

In The Lost Art of Dumbbell Training, Brooks swings a 151 pound dumbbell from floor to overhead with one arm, performs a one-hand clean and jerk with the same 151 pound dumbbell, performs a one-hand clean and push press with a 131 pound thick-handled dumbbell (one hand all the way), performs a two-dumbbell clean and push press with a pair of 121 pounders, and performs many other lifts that read like Ripley's Believe It or Not.

In Bags, Barrels and Beyond, Brooks clean and presses a huge anvil wrapped with 65 pounds of heavy log chain for additional weight - a thick, unwieldy, mass of iron weighing well over 220 pounds.

In his Power Rack Training DVD, Brooks includes a clip showing his World record bench press (in actual competition), tells how he trained to make the lift, and does partial push presses with weights running all the way up to 440 pounds.

In the same DVD, Brooks rams a 302 pound barbell overhead in a push press. It's one of the most inspiring lifts you'll ever witness.

Brooks has authored hundreds of articles published in HardGainer, Milo, The Iron Master, The Dinosaur Files, Ironman and Muscle and Fitness.

His 1996 masterpiece, Dinosaur Training: Lost Secrets of Strength and Development, became an international best seller almost overnight, and ushered in the Dinosaur Era. Today, nearly 15 years after its publication, Dinosaur Training continues to hold a powerful grip on the hearts and minds of serious trainees the world over.

In 2008 and 2009, Brooks published the first two novels ever written about the Iron Game: Legacy of Iron, which covers the rise of weightlifting in the USA during 1939, and Clouds of War, which continues the story into 1940. Both books have received tremendous praise - including enthusiastic support from World and Olympic weightlifting champions Tommy Kono and Ike Berger, Over-40 Mr. America and Iron Game author, Clarence Bass, United States Olympic Weightlifting Coach and Milo author, Jim Schmitz, Dr. Ken Leistner, Masters Weightlifting Champion, Arnold Pope, Denis Reno (the editor and publisher of the Olympic Lifting Newsletter), and Artie Dreschler, author of The Weightlifting Encyclopedia.

In December, 2009, Brooks published Gray Hair and Black Iron: Secrets of Successful Strength Training for Older Lifters - another book that became an overnight success and has received enthusiastic feedback and rave reviews from lifters around the world.

Brooks is currently working on several new projects for his loyal army of Dino-Maniacs - and promises to have something new and interesting for them in the very near future!

Today, at age 52, Brooks is training as hard as ever, and handles plenty of heavy iron in his "basics are best" Dino-style garage gym.

Brooks lives in Louisville, Kentucky, with his beautiful wife, Trudi, a physical therapy assistant and massage therapist who trains regularly, promotes sustainable living practices, keeps Brooks strong with a healthy, super-nutritious, all-natural diet, and assists him in running the Dinosaur operation.
